VFD cabinets

Control cabinets with  frequency converter (VFD cabinets) are low-voltage packaged devices designed for frequency regulation and control of asynchronous motors in pumps, fans, etc.

VFD cabinets are used for protection and control automation under given technical parameters including soft start of motors, reversing, soft stop, and control of specified RPM and torque on the shaft of one or several three-phase asynchronous motors. They also ensure  cascading via frequency converters.

VFD cabinet functions:

- Soft start/stop of electric motors;

- Control and protection of equipment components against unacceptable operating modes;

- Integration into industrial automation & control systems.

Design

VFD cabinet is a metal cabinet of floor-standing design, with inside mounting boards and partitions, and with metal doors

All hook-up components of the cabinet are powder coated.

Frequency converter is the base of VFD cabinet. ACS series frequency converters from ABB are used as the basic equipment, but , at customer's request, frequency converters by other manufacturers (Schneider Electric, Danfoss, Vacon, Siemens, etc.) can be used.

Composition of other power equipment (circuit breakers, fuses, contactors, throw switches, input and output filters or chokes, braking resistors, power terminal units) and equipment of secondary circuits (intermediate relays, self starter relays, light fixtures, current transformers, thermal relays, emergency stop buttons, cooling fans, control and signaling terminal units) depend on the VFD cabinet options. All equipment is from the world's leading manufacturers.

VFD cabinet's door contains the frequency converter control panel, protection reset button, drive start/stop command buttons, indicator of power voltage presence in the mains, light indicators "Ready", "Start" or "Forward", "Back", "Start End", "Overload", "Failure", operation mode switches, ammeters, and ventilation registers. Fans for necessary thermal conditions of cabinet operation are located on the inner side of the door.

The cabinet is mounted on a pedestal up to 300 mm high.

Incoming and outgoing cables of the power circuits can be located either at the bottom or at the top of the cabinet.
